Intergenerational Worship Services are held every Sunday at 10:15 a.m. Buena Vista welcomes all people in their journey of faith regardless of age, abilities, physical conditions, race, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic class. The service provides a blending of traditional hymns, contemporary music, and jazz. Sermons and children's messages follow the lectionary texts for the week.

We are family friendly with children's messages preceding the invitation to church school classes. Church school classes are provided from toddler through high school ages. Child care is also provided for infants and toddlers. When you join us for worship, you will be inspired in your faith and find yourself feeling at home with new friends!

On the first Sunday of the month we celebrate Holy Communion and share Memorial remembrances for those who passed in that month. The first Sunday also is highlighted by the sharing of the "faith journey" from one of our members. See the following link for the message from Wendy Hanamura on September 6, 2015 which provides a good understanding of some of the history of BVUMC (click here).

A modern take on the wedding feast at Cana (John 2:1-11) set the scene for a message on Sunday, January 17, 2016 celebrating our union with God in building the beloved community (see photo to the right).  Inspired by God's abundant, transformational love in the John passage as well as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's vision and work, Church & Society Committee members shared testimonies about their calling to different outreach ministries at Buena Vista and extended an invitation to others to join them at the table.  A reception followed in the social hall, complete with toasts and a bouquet toss (to nudge the next followers of God's calling!).
Other photos (right, below) show details of the table and altar piece, and an overview of the sanctuary.

We are a reconciling church, welcoming to all families, sexual orientations and gender identities, transforming our church into the full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.
